There is a reason why golden (delicious) milk is #trending right now... It is SO creamy, delicious, smooth and packed with anti-inflammatory ingredients. I did the ultimate taste test with my 3-year-old daughter, and boy did we have a WINNER! We simply followed the recipe that came with the jar of golden milk powder, mixed it into some fresh organic whole milk, but you can use ANY milk your family loves best.
What I especially love about this recipe is that it can easily replace your craving for hot chocolate when the temperatures drop. Most of those chocolate packets are filled with artificial chemicals, coloring agents, and even trans fats. This recipe is transparent, and packs an added punch to calm inflammation and free-radical damage from the inside, out.
Gaia Herbs is one of my all time favorite herbal companies. Their product is always fresh, organic and from as clean a source as possible. Like the food I ingest, I also want (and expect!) that the quality of my supplements and superfoods to be top notch. The orange color comes from the turmeric root, and the slightly sweet taste comes from the dates and vanilla bean. The Ashwagandha is one of the best adaptogenic herbs, included to help your body unwind and destress.
GOLDEN MILK RECIPE
To our mason jar, we added:
-1 tsp of organic, grass-fed ghee (but also tried it with organic coconut oil -- delish!)
-1 serving of Gaia Herbs Golden Milk
-a pinch of Saffron threads (optional, but so fancy)
-1 cup of organic whole milk, or nut milk of your choice (unsweetened vanilla hemp milk was also a huge hit)
-1-2 tsp of raw honey, to taste (also fab with organic maple syrup!)
Slowly stir in all ingredients and warm (not to boil), just as you would your fave cup of cocoa. This golden treat is sure to soothe and hit the spot ;)
